Causes of Hip Pain & Treatments

Adult hip pain is common and not always related to sinister or serious pathology. Hip pain can also be referred from other parts of the body such as a pinched nerve in the lower back or pubic bone (osteitis pubis), often seen in athletes. Common causes of hip pain include:

  • Hip osteoarthritis
  • Femoral acetabular impingement (FAI)
  • Labral tear
  • Bursitis
  • Other arthritis such as Rheumatoid Arthritis

If you are experiencing hip pain, it is important that a trained health professional assess your hip and lower back. Our Physiotherapists and Chiropractors are trained in the orthopaedic assessment of the hip and lower back. They will assess your range of motion along with orthopaedic testing to determine a diagnosis. You may also be referred for further imaging of your hip or lower back by our allied health team, such as an MRI or X-ray to rule out any underlying pathology or injury.

If you would like to discuss your neck complaint but are unsure how to proceed, book a complimentary discovery session with one of our allied health practitioners today!
