Causes of Shoulder Pain

Shoulder pain is often a very complex complaint and requires proper assessment from a trained health professional. There are several causes of shoulder pain that can range from:

  • Rotator cuff tendinopathy or tear
  • Subacromial bursitis
  • Impingement syndrome
  • Bicipital tendonitis
  • Capsular problems such as frozen shoulder

Our Physiotherapists and Chiropractors are trained in the orthopaedic assessment of the shoulder joint and rib cage. We assess your range of motion, test your rotator cuff muscles, and use further orthopaedic testing to determine a diagnosis. Sometimes you may also be referred for further shoulder imaging by our allied health team, such as an MRI or X-ray to rule out any underlying pathology or injury.

Treating Shoulder Pain

Following diagnosis, our team can construct a comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation plan, working together with a common goal to prevent the need for surgery. We can bring together the following services for your shoulder pain:

  • Physiotherapy for dry needling, soft tissue release, and comprehensive rehabilitation
  • Chiropractic for spine care and optimal nerve and muscle function
  • Remedial Massage Therapy to calm and ease the tight muscles around the chest and shoulder
  • Private Pilates to build strength back into your shoulder once your pain is reduced on our pilates reformers
